Two-step sign-in

Contents

Two-step sign-in keeps Chiral Cloud accounts safe. As well as your password, you type a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, so nobody can get in with your password alone. It is available from Chiral Cloud 2.0.67.

These four short videos cover setting up your app, signing in with it, the practice setting for managers, and what to do when your practice requires an app.

    1. Setting up your authenticator app (1:55) – Add a second step to your Chiral Cloud sign-in. Set up an authenticator app from My account, scan the code, and save your recovery codes, so nobody gets in with your password alone.
    2. Signing in with your authenticator app (1:25) – Sign in with your password and the 6-digit code from your app, and use a recovery code if you don't have your phone.
    3. Two-step sign-in for your practice (1:27) – For practice managers: choose Off, SMS or Authenticator app required in Preferences, and reset a colleague's app from Find Users if they lose their phone.
    4. Setting up when your practice requires it (1:16) – When your practice requires an authenticator app, you set it up the first time you sign in. Here's how, step by step.

    Good to know

    • A code changes every 30 seconds. If one is refused, check the time on your phone is correct.
    • Each recovery code works once. Keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone.
    • If you lose your phone, ask someone at your practice who can reset authenticator apps (Find Users, right-click the user, Reset authenticator app).
    • When your practice requires an authenticator app, you can replace your app but not remove it. Tablet and check-in screens keep using text-message codes.
    • 10 wrong codes in a row lock the code step for 15 minutes.
