Adding, changing and deleting the hours a clinician works: dates, day-by-day hours and lunch, copying Monday to the other weekdays, setting up a 4-week rotating pattern, and how the page catches mistakes and overlapping patterns.

    What the video shows

A working pattern is the hours a clinician works each day. Open Diary Schedules from Utilities, Housekeeping, choose the clinician, here John Jones, and then the Working pattern tab.

Each pattern shows its days and hours, and when it applies. Click one to see it in full underneath.

To add a new one, press Add. A panel opens on the right.

Choose the date it applies from. No end date is ticked, so it carries on until you change it.

Switch each working day on or off. Monday to Friday start switched on, with the practice's opening hours. Now set Monday's start and finish times.

Turn on Lunch, then set when lunch starts and when it finishes. It shows as a blue band across the diary.

Copy Monday to weekdays gives Tuesday to Friday the same hours and lunch.

If something doesn't add up, the page tells you, and Save waits until it's put right. Here, Wednesday finishes before it starts.

Put it right, and notice the yellow warning. This pattern overlaps John's current one, so for the dates they share, the diary could show either.

Press Save, and the new pattern joins the list.

To change a pattern, select it and press Edit. Open Advanced at the bottom of the panel, and switch on Rotating 4-week pattern. Buttons for weeks one to four appear at the top.

Choose Week 2 and switch Friday off. Now John works Fridays in the other three weeks only. Then save.

To remove a pattern, select it and press Delete. You're asked to make sure, so press Yes, and it's gone from the list.
